I wonder if we read the New Testament and long for spiritual enabling and influence like that which powers the characters through its pages—or maybe we just want that ‘something’ that our Christian friends seem to have. Others of us may feel spiritually dry, that we’ve plateaued in faith or hit a brick wall, and need help to move forward again. While some maybe struggling with frenetic schedules, stressful demands, mundane routine, or regret, disappointment, confusion, disillusionment, pressing problems and pain; a season of life where heavenly realms and spiritual riches feel all too irrelevant to the reality of our ‘today’.
Jesus modelled how physical life can dwell in perfect harmony with spiritual life; the fullness of God indwelling human flesh. Admittedly, Jesus was God’s Son, but as we are seated with Him in the heavenly realms with its promise of spiritual blessings (Eph. 2:6; 1:3), we too can seek greater fullness of God’s Spirit in our physical lives in this tangible world; to experience in daily living both who we have become and what is now ours from being united with Christ.
Whether we need permission to ‘be still’, fresh inspiration to engage with the Word and prayer, encouragement to let God further reshape us into His image, or whether we need to build our confidence in God, allow Him to heal our low self-esteem, take our authority over the demonic realm, ‘see’ others as Jesus sees them, and renew our passion to share His love with the unsaved, ‘Restore the Balance’ will inspire and encourage proactive engagement with God working His Spirit life into us, and a willingness to let His work flow out to impact our world.
