Miniphant Seeds Weeds Spaghetti Trees

Miniphant is growing his own good – in his suitcase! But something isn’t right, and he doesn’t understand why his higgledy-piggledy weeds don’t look like the beautiful rows of vegetables growing the garden. With some help from his friends, will Miniphant discover how to turn his weeds of jealousy into seeds of joy?

Children are encouraged to recognise emotions such as jealousy and joy, and how those emotions might affect their behaviour. By being able to understanding the cause of negative feelings, children can begin to try and display positive and helpful actions instead.

Giant Carrot!
You can print out the giant carrot and stick it on your child’s wall (see the pages for the other books for more printable word pictures!) or make a mobile and hang them from your child’s bedroom ceiling. These printables contain the foundational messages of each book, and are affirming, encouraging words to speak into your child’s life. You might recognise them from the books, where they were hidden in the pictures.

Animal Friend Fact Files
Sharing is an ‘action’ way of showing love to someone. Here are some different ways Miniphant and his friends show love by sharing…

At the back of Seeds, Weeds and Spaghetti Trees we talk about becoming friends with Jesus. This means believing that God is real and what it says about Him in the Bible is true. We believe that God made us to have relationship with Him. But over time, people messed up so much trying to live without God that this relationship was broken, and the only way it could be fixed was by God sending His Son, Jesus, to come to earth and save us. Jesus says that He is the only one who can satisfy our deepest hunger because He is the one who makes it possible for our relationship with God to be restored.

‘For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not die but have eternal life.’ (John 3:16, GNB)
Jesus knew that He had to die in order to save us from all our mess and wrongdoing so that we could live forever with God in heaven. This shows how much He loves us, and wanted us to be free from the weight of carrying all our messed-up thoughts and actions around with us (like Miniphant was when he started to feel jealous and lied about watering the vegetables). Jesus did this by being prepared to die for us. Wow, that’s a lot of love!

‘If the Son sets you free, then you will be really free.’ (John 8:36, GNB)
The above verse means that only Jesus can free you of the heaviness of your wrongdoing that the devil (who doesn’t want you to have freedom) wants you to feel.

‘The thief comes only in order to steal, kill, and destroy. I have come in order that you might have life—life in all its fullness.’ (John 10:10, GNB)
Jesus came to overcome the devil’s ways by conquering death and coming back to life. By asking for God’s forgiveness and choosing to follow Him, we experience the freedom Jesus offers us and a wonderful forever friendship. A bit like when Miniphant shared with Robin that he had lied and then they started to put things right again together.

If you choose to become forever friends with Jesus, you are friends with God and the Holy Spirit too because they are three in one. The Holy Spirit helps you to share the good news about Jesus with others, and to grow in your relationship with Him. You can talk to Jesus about all the things you are thankful for, anything you need to say sorry for, and ask Him to help other people. You can talk to Him wherever you are, at any time, about anything. If possible, you can also meet up with other friends who know Jesus at their church and children’s groups to learn more about Him.
