What an amazing gift of love we celebrate this Christmas as ‘the Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us’ (John 1:14). We also celebrate the way that God’s Word still speaks to every nation, culture and age.
In our mission to reach more people and generations, we are aware that there is an urgent need in the lives of Christian young adults. There is a hunger for authentic biblical teaching, but also a disengagement with the Church and the more traditional methods of Bible reading. We need to address the challenges that this presents.
The Booktrust conducted a survey of people aged 18–30. When asked, 64% believed that the internet and online platforms will replace books within 20 years. And 56% of the same group preferred to access information through the internet, rather than printed materials.
In order to help build tomorrow’s Church today, we want to do all we can to help young adults connect with God and the Bible in a way that is accessible, practical and relatable.
We have the opportunity to partner with the charity 24-7 Prayer, who already work with young adults all around the world. By joining with 24-7 Prayer, and bringing our 50 years’ experience of helping people engage with God’s Word, we are going to create and make available a brand-new, generation-transforming resource.
We want to urgently begin work on developing and launching an app (a specialised program that is downloaded onto mobile devices: smartphones and tablets) that will enable those between 18 and 30 to benefit from encountering Scripture and prayer daily.
Will you help us build tomorrow’s Church today? As we celebrate love coming down this Christmas, let’s send love out and help young adults prepare for the spiritual challenges faced in everyday life, and assist them in applying God’s Word to their relationships with others.
